Ten found guilty of cyber-bullying targeting Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found guilty ten people for perpetrating the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.

The accused individuals faced allegations of circulating false claims regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to posting hurtful comments about the husband and wife's significant age difference.

The court issued conditional custodial sentences of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has not yet been published.

A circulating false narrative claiming that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has existed since her husband's initial election in 2017.

This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the US against political commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's identity.

Their lawsuit states that Owens ignored substantial counter-evidence that refuted her assertions in favour of amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.

Owens has often echoed these assertions on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would bet her whole career on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.

Brigitte Macron first met her future husband when she was a teacher at his secondary school.

The couple tied the knot in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was 54.
